Port Blair, Aug 28: Unreasonable delay of nearly two years in declaring the results of results of 302 posts of Lower Grade Clerk (LGC) has given rise to plethora of rumours and speculations in remote Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
The written exam for 302 posts of Lower Grade Clerks was held on 9th November 2014 in which nearly 22,000 candidates took part.
The result of this exam was declared on 12th February 2016 in which 1,746 candidates were declared pass.
Then the typing test for 1,746 candidates was conducted by the Administration with the assistance of Staff Selection Commission, New Delhi at Port Blair in April 2016.
Now even after nearly four months of the typing test the final results have not been declared yet.
Adding to the plight now the Administration has recently revealed that the results have been sent back to the SSC for clarification as the result format that was conveyed by the SSC is not clear to the Andaman & Nicobar Administration.
The administration also mentioned that the clarification is expected in nearly two months or even longer.
This new development has now created a ripple in Andaman Society and many political parties are now demanding an explanation from local Administration.
“There are reports that the result will be again delayed. This is disappointing for local candidates who have done so much preparation for written and typing tests,” said Protima Banerjee the TDP Councillor of Ward number 6 of Port Blair Municipal Council.
The DMK and Congress parties are equally concerned. “The Administration has a dedicated wing for this purpose and still it is not clear why there is so much delay,” questions Raja Marudhvanan, the Spokesperson of DMK in Andaman.
“This is shameful and this inordinate delay only shows that how much our Administration is serious about people of these Islands. Some candidates have gone into depression for such delay in declaration of results,” said Congress leader and former Zilla Parishad up-adhyaksh, Mr. Sudhir Biswas.
