Port Blair, August 21: The Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited has assured that it will soon rectify the problems of the Telephone exchange of Diglipur.
Addressing a Press Conference at BSNL Bhawan yesterday at the Chief General Manager, BSNL, Mr V Jagadeesan said that he recently visited the exchange and have seen various problems at the exchange.
He said that the Air Conditioner at the exchange will be fixed in the said exchange within 10 days and further the BSNL will also look forward to construct a new building for the BSNL exchange of Diglipur. The pathetic condition of the BSNL Exchange was recently highlighted by Andaman Sheekha.
During the conference the CGM said that the Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited, Andaman & Nicobar Circle has launched Wifi hotspot at Aberdeen Bazaar covering an area of around 400 meters radius from the site.
He further added that the BSNL has also started Broadband services at Kamorta Island and augmented bandwidth of 60 mbps at Mayabunder with state of art IP technology for broadband services. “The BSNL is trying to lay another OFC cable from Port Blair to Diglipur but there are certain constrains as of now, the BSNL is trying to decrease the dependency on OFC cable as it usually gets damage due to natural disaster and some people also do it intentionally thus the BSNL has increased the bandwidth at Mayabunder,” CGM said.
