Port Blair, Aug 12: World Elephant Day was celebrated at JNRM on 12th Aug. 2016 by the Nature Club of Zoology Department. The Chief Guest of the program Dr. N. Francis Xavier, Principal, J.N.R.M. enlightened the gathering about the threats faced by the Elephants and also shared the story of “The Elephant Graveyard” which was much appreciated by the gathering.
The welcome address was delivered by Dr. V.K. Sahu, founder of Nature Club. He conveyed the message to save the elephant because the are important for our survival by citing various examples. Sonia and Affreen of BSc III year, students of the Zoology Department also spoke about the evolution and various other aspects of elephants. The program was hosted by the Ms Pooja and she highlighted the importance and relevance of World Elephant Day. Vote of thanks was proposed by Puja Singh, the secretary of Nature Club, JNRM.
