Port Blair, Aug 10: In persistence to the continuing effort of District Administration to regulate the Quarrying and Crushing activities in South Andaman District and to stop all such illegal Quarry and stone Crushing units functioning in the South Andaman District, the Eviction Team of Port Blair Tehsil today raided various Stone Crushing units functioning in Prothrpaur and Brookshabad village of Port Blair Tehsil under the supervision and control of the District Administration.
Following complaints, the Team comprising of Revenue Inspectors area Patwaris and other revenue officials conducted surprise raids at Stone Crushing units of Prothrapur and Brookshabad village and confiscated the conveyor belts of four such illegal functional/non-functional crushing units and the materials so seized were handed over the SHO, Pahargaon for watch and ward. Accordingly legal action has also been initiated against all such units of that area.
Therefore all stakeholders are cautioned and directed to refrain from any unauthorized activity and hereby directed to operate crusher units only after receiving necessary clearances such as NOC from Pollution Control Committee. In case of any further violation found, stringent action will be taken against them.
