Port Blair, Aug 10: A meeting was held in the Chamber of Shri Manohar Parrikar, Defence Minister in Parliament house on 9th August 2016 with Shri Bishnu Pada Ray, Member of Parliament alongwith Shri Manickam, Pradhan, Gram Panchayat, Wimberlygunj and Shri Abhay Kumar, President, Living on the Edge (NGO).
The Member of Parliament has expressed his heartiest gratitude to Shri Manohar Parrikar, the Defence Minister for providing Donier Services twice in a week on Monday and Friday from Port Blair to Car Nicobar & Campbell Bay with a distance of 150 nautical miles and 300 nautical miles respectively.
Shri Ray demanded for better connectivity particularly for Islanders between Port Blair to Diglipur at a distance of 100 nautical miles through Donier twice in a week and also requested for defence clearance towards construction of Chatham Bambooflat Bridge.
On the issue of Donier services for Diglipur Island Shri Parrikar sympathetically said, will consider the issue and regarding Defence clearance, he assured that favourable action will be taken.
