Port Blair, May 24: A meeting ofA&NIslandsBuildingand Other Construction Workers Welfare Board was held in the Conference Hall of Labour Commissioner’s Office, Supply Line. The meeting was chaired by the Commissioner-cum-Secretary (Labour). A total of 04 nos death benefit cases and 06 nos maternity benefit cases were approved by the Board.
This shall result in disbursement of benefits/assistance to the tune of Rs 95,000/- to the registered building and other construction worker and their respective families from the cess corpus.
The Board also decided to launch awareness campaign to generate awareness among the building and other construction workers to register themselves with the Board in order to avail various assistance/benefits like Educational Assistance; Marriage Assistance; Maternity Benefit; Health assistance; Pension benefits; funeral assistance & Death benefits. The Board till date has nearly 2200 registered workers. The workers engaged in the building and other construction related activities are requested to register themselves with the Board with Labour Commissioner’s Office, Supply Line.
