Port Blair, May 24: The delivery of Government to Citizen Services through Common Service Center (CSCs) named as “e-Dweep” were started on 12.12.2011 in Port Blair capital town at ten places. The electricity bills of all the domestic consumers (except the bills with outstanding) of 8 site offices viz. Aberdeen Bazaar, Phoenix Bay, Prem Nagar, Haddo, Shadipur, Nayagaon, Dairy Farm and Dollygunj site offices are being collected through CSCs only. The electricity bills for domestic consumers are accepted upto due date at CSCs on all working days from 8 AM to 8 PM and on Sunday from 8 AM to 1 PM from 10th of every month.
After the successful operations of the CSCs, it is decided to introduce collection of electric bill payment for Commercial category consumers also through the CSCs, which is being demanded by the commercial category consumers since December, 2011. It is further decided that the amount of bills above Rs. 5,000/- shall be accepted only through cheques, in order to minimize cash handling by the CSC.
If any person/firms have any suggestion the same may be communicated to the Executive Engineer (HQ), Electricity Department, Port Blair in writing or in person on or before 31.05.2012, to examine the same. If no suggestions are received within the stipulated date the electric bill payment for commercial consumers shall be introduced w.e.f. June, 2012 onwards.
