Port Blair, July 27: The Indian Coast Guard Station Mayabunder on 27 Jul 16 conducted community interaction and awarenessdrive at Karmatang village in coordination with District Administration and fisheries department to spread awareness on coastal security and various aspects involving among fishermen and local populace.
The local populace was briefed on the role played by fishermen community in coastal security apparatus and stressed upon the fishermen to become eyes and ears at sea for the security agencies. In addition Indian Coast Guard highlighted the importance of the safety norms to be followed when fishing at sea especially monsoon period.
The Station Medical Officer also briefed all present about basic first aids and emergency resuscitative measures to be taken while at sea.
The community interaction was also attended by Officials from Police, CID, Forest, Fisheries, IB, Rampur Pradhan and PRI members of Mayabunder Panchayat.
