Mayabunder, July 22: A mass rally was conducted by Mayabunder’s BJP unit against the Divisional Forest Officer of Mayabunder. Nearly 100-150 people took part in the rally.
The reason behind the rally was to take immediate action against the DFO for seizure of an engine dinghy and for alleged search of house and private place without search warrant etc.
However it is learnt that the DC, North & Middle Andaman along with the Assistant Commissioner, Middle Andaman Rangat came to the spot and assured to take up the matter with the higher authorities after which the agitation came to an end.
It is learnt that if the demands are not fulfilled by the administration within seven days the agitation then will take the shape of Chakka Jaam.
However highly placed sources in Mayabunder has said that the allegation has been organised against the DFO because of some hidden motives of some PRI workers. The agitation according to internal report, was organised to put pressure on DFO of the region and the initiatives and steps taken by the DFO does not violate any rules.
