Port Blair, July 21: The member of various Auto Rickshaw Union in the city have threatened the Andaman Nicobar Administration of ‘Chakka Jaam’ agitation from 25th July if the demands they have kept in front of the District Commissioner, South Andaman on 19th July are not fulfilled.
As per reports, a delegation of 15 members of various Auto Rickshaw Union of the city met the DC, South Andaman on Tuesday and demanded him to provide relief to them from challans, that is being imposed by the State Transport Authority, for road side parking. They also demanded him to notify an Auto Stand for them in the city.
It has been learnt that the delegation also demanded to take action against the Jeep Operators who are violating their permit rules as that is hitting auto drivers hard.
Talking to Andaman Sheekha, the General Secretary of Rajkiya Auto Rickshaw Trade Union, Mr Santosh Kumar said that as per the direction of the DC they have also submitted a letter containing all demands on 19th July itself.
“If our demands are not fulfilled on or before 25th July then we will hold a ‘Chakka Jaam’ in city,” Mr Santosh said.
