Port Blair, July 17: To sensitise fishermen folk on issues pertaining to safety at sea, a special Community Interaction Programme was conducted at Dignabad on Friday by Coast Guard District Headquarters No. 14. The event was attended by local fishermen and representatives of Fisheries Department. Medical lecture on first aid at sea was organised on this occasion for benefit of the fishers. The importance of distress toll free No.(1554), usage of DATs and techniques for survival were demonstrated. Fishermen were apprised that they from the first line of information for security issues at sea and also as, “EYES AND EARS” for Coast Guard. The fishermen community of Dignabad participated with grade enthusiasm and appreciated the efforts of Coast Guard for conduct of informative and educative session for their benefit.
