Port Blair, July 13: The Directorate of Health Services is observing Intensified Diarrhoea Control Fortnight (IDCF) from July 11 to 23, 2016 in these islands with the goal to attain zero child death due to childhood diarrhoea among the under-5 children. The diarrheal deaths are usually clustered in summer and monsoon months and the worst affected are children from poor socio economic situations. During the fortnight, various awareness generation activities will be conducted for prevention and control of deaths due to diarrhoea among the under 5 children. The state level function will be held at auditorium of GB Pant Hospital (Lecture Hall-I) on July 14 at 10 am. Mr Minati Biswas, Adyaksha, Zilla Parishad, South Andaman will be the chief guest on the occasion.
