Port Blair, May 21: The Director General of Police today urged islanders to keep head light of their vehicle at low-beam while driving at night.
In a press release today the DGP said that vehicles are being driven by the drivers with high-beam head lights during the night.
“This is causing direct focus of the glare on the eyes of the drivers coming from the opposite direction, thereby greatly increasing chances of head-on collisions and other accidents. The Traffic Police would implement these Rules strictly with immediate effect. Violators will be challaned Rs.1,000/- for dangerous driving,” the DGP said.
He added that in this connection, experts have discouraged the suggested solution of darkening the headlights partially.
