Port Blair, July 3: The Nehru Yuva Kendra, Diglipur organized a one-day District Youth Convention at Panchayat Hall, Radhanagar on Saturday. About 93 male and female participants from different youth clubs and Yuvati Mandals from Diglipur zone participated in the convention.
Inaugurating the convention as the chief guest, Mr A.K. Trivedi, Assistant Commissioner, Diglipur spoke on the effects of drug abuse and alcoholism in youth for nation building. The Pradhan, Gram Panchayat, Radhanagar, IPO (i/c), Mukhya Sebika, Manager, SBI, Diglipur, Dr. Rajendranath Prashad, Dr. Kumar Gourav, MO, PHC, Radhanagar and Mr Chanchal Singha Roy, GTT, Govt. Senior Seccondary School, Diglipur were also present on the occasion.
During the programme, benefits of Yoga, Beti Bachao – Beti Padhao, Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Beema Yojana, Skill Development & various schemes of self employment (PMEGP), Drug Abuse and Disaster Management etc. topics were highlighted by Dr. Rajendranath Prashad, Associate Rajya Pabhari Patanjali Yog Samiti, Port Blair, Smt. Kanchan Mondal, Mukhya Sebika, Mr Amitava Roy, Manager, SBI, Diglipur, Mr Swapan Mallick, Industries Promotion Officer(i/c),Industry Department, and Mr Chanchal Singha Roy, GTT, Govt. Senior Secondary School, Diglipur as resource persons.
Welcoming the gathering, Mr Jagjeevan Ram, District Youth Coordinator, NYK, Diglipur highlighted about the important of convention especially for youth. Mr Bhaskar Mazumder, Pradhan, Gram Panchayat, Radhanagar proposed the vote of thanks.
