Port Blair, July 03: Shri Kuldeep Rai Sharma, President, Pradesh Congress Committee & INTUC, Andaman & Nicobar Islands has expressed resentment and dissatisfaction over the manner and approach in which the BJP lead NDA Government has accorded approval to implement the 7th Central Pay Commission recommendations for the Central government employees without taking into consideration the legitimate demands and suggestions put forward by various section of government employees through their Unions and Associations.
Shri Sharma further stated that, the autocratic approach of the central government has ultimately resulted in offering the worst financial benefits through 7th Central Pay Commission to the government employees with meager 14.27% hike in the Basic Pay at the junior levels, which is the lowest increase in the 70 year old history of Pay Commission.
Shri Sharma said that the BJP’s much hyped propaganda to increase minimum wages also does not feature in the cabinet approval accorded by the government on 29.06.2016.
Retaliating to the anti government servant stance of BJP, Shri Sharma reminded that the BJP led NDA Government when in power during the year 2003 rejected the legitimate formation of the 6th Pay Commission and the same was constituted by the Congress lead UPA-1 Government when it came to power during 2005.
The current 7th Central Pay Commission was constituted by the then Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh of UPA-II government during 2013, so that the recommendation of the commission could be timely implemented for the financial benefit and social security of the Central Government Employees to which all Government employees of A & N Administration belongs. Referring to the decision of Federation of Government Employees to go on strike with effect from 11th July, 2016 to protest the implementation of 7th Central Pay Commission in the current format, Shri Sharma as part of the Congress Party’s stand, extends the support of the local unit of PCC and INTUC and hope good sense will prevail and Government of India will review its decision for betterment of the people serving in the government whether regular or daily wagers.
