Port Blair, June 30: Mayabunder Forest Division celebrated Swachh Bharat Pakhwada from June 1-30, 2016 during which a number of cleaning drives were organised across the three territorial Ranges. A rally was conducted on 9th June 2016 from Danapur Junction to Panighat Forest Check Post with the staff of Mayabunder Forest Division, in co-ordination with Gram Panchayat Rampur in presence of the Divisional Forest Officer Mayabunder, Smt. Vanjulavalli Karthick, and the Assistant Conservator of Forest, Smt. Lata Hegde aiming to create more awareness among the general public. Ceremonial plantation also done by the entire team at Panighat to reiterate the relation between “Clean” and “Green”. Weeding out of old files of Mayabunder Forest Division was done every day from 1st June 2016 to 15th June 2016 at DFO (MB) Office. A variety of programmes were conducted such as beach cleaning, office cleaning etc. as well as innovative initiatives such as coastal cleaning were done along the Austin, Tugapur & Karmatang creeks. A total of 430 people participated during the fortnight-long celebration.
