Port Blair, June 30: The Dr B R Ambedkar institute of Technology has developed software for online admission, generation of merit list, generation of admission challan and submission of fees till the allocation of enrolment number. The software is being used for last six years. On an average around 1600 applications for admission are received every year.
From the current year the application has been extended for online submission through internet and the result has been quite encouraging. Around 500 students have applied through internet and 1000 through CSC spread across the different Islands.
The institute has also made arrangement to send the status of the students applied for admission through Short Messaging Service (SMS) and can also be viewed on institutes website http://dbrait.andaman.gov.in, institutes admission portal http://braitadmission.andaman.gov.in and Common Service Centers (CSC) thus obviate the need of candidate visiting the institute to see the merit list. The above initiative has helped to reduce the consumption of paper considerably in the admission process.
