Port Blair, June 23: Offended over denial of recognition, islands renowned film-maker, Mr. Naresh Chander Lal (recipient of Padmashree Award) has tendered his resignation from the Kalakendra.
In a letter to the Director of Art and Culture, Mr. Naresh Chander Lal alleged that he was not given due respect as per the protocol of official functions during the event Sangam organised by the Art and Culture Directorate on Tuesday.
“My name was neither considered for the welcome address not the vote of thanks despite being a Padmashree award, the fourth highest civilian award of the country. The Padmashree was awarded to me in recognition of my works in the field of Art, Theatre and Cinema over the year. But the Department of Art and Culture preferred to ignore all of that during the function,” lamented Mr Lal asserting that he would never attend any functions organized by the Art and Culture Department in future.
However, Mr. Lal has expressed his gratitude to the Lt. Governor of Andaman and Nicobar, who understands the value of a Padmashree and mentions the name of Naresh Chander Lal in almost all the functions.
Our island people should be proud of padmashree naresh Chandra lal and give abundant respect in words in functions as an example.
great sir! To make our island proud
