Port Blair, June 21: The Central Island Agricultural Research Institute conducted an awareness programme on National Surveillance Programme for Aquatic Animal Diseases (NSPAAD) at Madhupur village of Diglipur recently under the guidance of Dr. S. Dam Roy, Director, ICAR-CIARI. Mr. K. Saravanan, Scientist briefed about the importance of aquatic animal disease surveillance in Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Mr. Arunjyoti Baruah, Scientist spoken on various types of fish diseases and its management measures. Mr. T. Sivaramakrishnan, Scientist delivered a talk on management of fish farm with main focus on fish feed management practices. Mr. Kamal Halder, Member of Madhupur Panchayat appreciated the activity of ICAR-CIARI and said that this programme will be helpful to detect the fish diseases and to take necessary management measures. An interactive session between the farmers and scientists was conducted in which the queries raised by farmers were addressed by the experts. Altogether, 42 farmers including 18 females attended the programme.
