Port Blair, May 31: As a part of observance of ‘, a Cleanliness drive was organized inside the Prison in the presence of Smt Geeta Rani Verma Inspector General of Prisons and Prison officers. During the drive, Swacchata pledge was administered to the participant inmates and Prison officials by the Inspector General of Prisons. It has been informed in her speech that Swachhta Abhiyan is the initiative of Prime Minister of India, we should encouraged the prisoners and staff of Prison Department to keep their barracks, house and surrounding neat and clean.
A sit and draw competition on Swacchata Abhiyan was also organized in the Multipurpose hall of District Prison, Prothrapur, Port Blair, wherein 25 inmates voluntarily participated.
Shri. O. Mohd. Haneefa, Deputy Jailor presided over the programme and Shri. Krishna Murthy, Jailor appreciated the inmates for taking part in such activities.
The programme concluded with vote of thanks by the convict Dr. Sanjay Samajpati.
