Port Blair, Apr 27: A rally and public meeting was held by the Daily Rated Mazdoors at Mayabunder to protest against long pending demands of Mayabunder APWD (NACD) under the leadership of CITU.
The rally as well as the meeting was attended by more than 160 mazdoor including women. The rally started from Mayabunder Bazar via APWD Guest House and concluded at bazaar.
Comrade Shri B.Chandrachoodan and other prominent leaders of CITU spoke on the demands and grievances faced by the worker community since a long time.
The key demands were regularization of all daily-rated/Contract Mazdoors and employee, Filling up of all vacant posts, Compassionate ground appointments to all eligible applicants, to extend the 1/30th of paypuls DA at the minimum of the relevant scale of pay scheme of Govt. of India in APWD and other departments., implementation of the Lok Adalat Decision on 1/30th of pay scheme in APWD immediately, immediate revision of Minimum Wages Implementation of shops & Establishment Regular and Rules in A & N Islands, Effective implementation of Labour Laws in the Islands and extend all the benefits to unorganized sector workers.
