Port Blair, April 24: Director General Rajendra Singh, PTM, TM, Director General Indian Coast Guard visited Coast Guard District Headquarters No 9, (N&M Andaman) at Diglipur on Saturday.. He inspected the operational capability of the Northernmost Coast Guard base in Andaman and Nicobar islands and reviewed the ongoing infrastructure development. He expressed satisfaction at the rebasing of 02 additional Coast Guard ships at Diglipur which will greatly enhance the operational capability of the service in Search and Rescue, Environment Protection and Coastal Security.
The Director General Indian Coast Guard also inaugurated the Coast Guard Naviks’ Institute. Speaking on the occasion, he stated that Diglipur being a very remote place, the Naviks’ Institute will address a long felt need by providing restful atmosphere and suitable ambience to CG personnel and their families where interactive and cultural/entertainment activities can be organized for their welfare and leisure.
Inspector General Kuldip Singh Sheoran, PTM, TM Commander Coast Guard Region (A&N) accompanied the Director General and apprised the ongoing infrastructure projects at Diglipur.
The Director General Indian Coast Guard was accompanied by Mrs Urmila Singh, President Tatrakshika who inaugurated the Coast Guard Wives Welfare Centre at Diglipur which will facilitate all welfare activities including social services, educational programmes, vocational courses etc. for the families of Indian Coast Guard personnel at Diglipur.
