The observance of Fire Service Day on April 14 every year reminds us about the noble task being performed by Fire Service personnel to save lives and property. It is an occasion for all of us to thank them for the invaluable services they render to society and also pay homage to those Fire Service personnel who have sacrificed their lives in the performance of duty.
Besides fire safety, fire precaution, fire prevention and fire fighting, the Fire Service also has a crucial role to play in Disaster Preparedness and Disaster Management, as they are one of the first responders in any disaster.
The conducts of the A&N Fire Service, displaying a high degree of commitment and sincerity, which was amply demonstrated during the major fire outbreaks in the residential colonies at Ambedkar Nagar, Delanipur, Anarkali Basti & Permanent Shelter at Teressa Island in 2015, is a matter of pride for us.
On the occasion of Fire Service Day, I congratulate all the personnel of the A&N Police Fire Service for their exemplary performance and hope that the Fire Service Week from April 14 to April 20, 2016 will generate public awareness about fire safety and the need for preventive efforts.
