Port Blair, April 12: The Member of Parliament, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Mr Bishnu Pada Ray has urged the principal employers to pay pending EPF dues to employees.
Addressing a Press Conference at MP Office this afternoon at 03:00 pm, the MP said that till date the Directorate of Health services has to pay the EPF dues of nearly 45.3 lakhs, MS has to pay the EPF dues of 14.96 lakhs, Secretariat has to the EPF dues of 3.33 lakhs and the PBMC has a dues of Rs 1.077 crores to their employees.
Addressing the media, the Assistant Provident Fund Commissioner, Mr Sahid Iqbal said that EPF and miscellaneous Provision Act 1952 has a lot of benefits and there are various schemes in this Act like PF scheme, Pension Scheme and Insurance scheme.
He briefed the media about these schemes and said that there is a lot of EPF dues from the side of both Principal and outsourcing employers. He also gave many examples of outsourcing employers who has lakhs of rupees of EPF dues.
Further addressing the media Mr Shaban Fazil, President, Kamsarat Nallah Action Plan Committee alleged a lot of corruption in the construction of Kamsarat Nallah Dam and demanded an inquiry in the matter.
He further said that he has submitted a complain letter of 58 pages to the CBI, Director, PM, President, HM, Joint Director, Kolkata regarding the corruption in the construction of Kamsarat Nallah Dam.
The MP further said that he will do a study in this matter and will take up the matter further on his level.
MP further said that he has distributed 5 computers and a printer recently in the Junglighat School from MPLAD fund and he will also distribute a Projector for initiating smart class in the school soon.
Mr Bishnu further added that the Central Road Fund has released an amount of 44.38 crores for construction of major roads in the islands.
