Port Blair, April 10: The Lt. Governor of Andaman and Nicobar Islands attended the 2nd meeting of National Sagarmala Apex Committee. The committee for development of port led projects in a focused way is headed by the Minister of Shipping, Road, Transport and Highways. The Lt. Governor attended the meeting on April 9 at New Delhi and emphasized on the special characteristics of Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
He requested the committee for a special perspective plan to be developed for A&N Islands under the Sagarmala initiative and appointment of a consultant only for A&N Islands for identifying and evaluating the port infrastructural projects. Administration has already submitted five such projects for consideration of the Ministry. These projects involve an investment of more than two thousand crores. The Lt. Governor thanked the Minister of Shipping for finalizing the acquisition of badly needed ships for the Islands, two bridges and widening of ATR. He appreciated the efforts of Ministry for taking up infrastructure projects as a mission.
