Port Blair, April 6: Door to door waste collection with segregation at source level commenced in Ward No 9 from Wednesday in the presence of the Ward Councillor and under the supervision of the Senior Sanitary Inspector, Mr Vijay Kumar and Mr S Shailendra Behari, Sanitary Inspector. The Port Blair Municipal Council expressed gratitude the residents and shopkeepers of Ward No 9 for their support and cooperation extended to achieve the target.
Ward No. 1 will be the next ward where door to door waste collection with segregation at source level will start from April 9 and sanitary staff will be imparted with specialized training in segregation of wastes on April 7 and 8.
In this connection, the residents and shopkeepers of the Ward No.1 have been requested not to dispose waste of their houses and shops in the open and keep the dry and wet waste (segregated waste) in different bins/ bags/ containers, which will be collected from respective residential places and shops by the allocated Sanitary workers of the council.
