Port Blair, Mar 14: Continuing its effort to make Port Blair city Open Defecation Free, the Swachhta Awareness Team (SAT) of Port Blair Municipal Council extended its survey and awareness campaign in Ward nos. 22, 17, 21, & 20. During the survey, the team identified targeted population and motivated them to construct sanitary household toilets. In other cases where the citizens had no access to toilets, the team with active participation of the citizens identified area for development of Community toilets.
Accordingly, eight, two, four and two Community Toilets have been proposed to be constructed in ward no. 22, 17, 21 and 20 respectively. The exercise was carried out in the presence of Councillors, Smt. Vaishali Rani Dayal, Mr Dharmendra Narayan, Mr K. Arubadi and Mr M. Arumugam in their respective Wards led by Mr Vijay Kumar, Sr. Sanitary Inspector, team leader of SAT under the overall supervision of Mr Vijay Prasad Tiwari, Sanitary Officer. The Swachhtha Awareness Team will be conducting survey of open defecation clusters in ward no. 14 on Tuesday.
