Port Blair, Mar 14: A news item was published in a local daily wherein the matter of issuance of Other Backward Class Certificate in old format prevailing in South Andaman District was brought to the notice of the District Administration. Acting swiftly on the issue, the District Administration, South Andaman has now formulated a new format for issuance of Other Backward Class Certificate to the communities identified as Central OBC as per the resolution passed by the Government of India dated 08th December 2011. The District Administration takes this opportunity to appreciate the positive reporting in pointing out the lacunae in issuance of OBC Certificate in South Andaman District.
The bonafide and eligible Islanders under Other Backward Class has been issued with certificate in a prescribed format devised for Andaman and Nicobar Islands. The format with pre-printed sheet was approved and published in the Andaman and Nicobar Official Gazette Extraordinary vide no. 354 dated 16th December 2005.
Later after amendment and inclusion of Andaman and Nicobar Other Backward Class in Central list of OBC in the year 2011, the applicants who required the Central OBC for applying with Central Government Departments and in other states as well were issued certificate separately apart from the Backward Class Certificate issued earlier to the aspirants.
In this context, it is informed to the general public that a fresh format has been devised for the Other Backward Classes mentioning all the schedules recognizing the person as a OBC and also inclusion of the category in the Central list of Other Backward Class notified vide Resolution no. 12015/13/2010-BCC-II dated 08th December 2011 published in the Gazette of India-Extra Ordinary-Part-I-Section 1 No. 257 dated 08th December 2011.
The Other Backward Classes of Andaman and Nicobar Islands who are recognized under the Category of Central Other Backward Class vide Government of India notification dated 08th December 2011 are hereby informed that henceforth they can obtain Other Backward Class Certificate and Central Other Backward Class combined from the respective Tehsildar.
