Mayabunder, Feb 19: A one day workshop for Heads of schools and In-charges of disaster management committees of schools under Mayabunder Educational Zone was held on 19th Feb, 2016 at Govt. Model Sr. Sec. School Mayabunder by Directorate of Disaster Management, Port Blair.
Shri Mammen Thomas, Deputy Education Officer Mayabunder, was the Chief Guest. At the outset Shri V Ranjith Kumar, Block Sports Officer, N & M Andaman District welcomed the Officials from Directorate of Disaster Management , NDRF and the gathering. Addressing the participants the Chief Guest reiterated the need for disaster preparedness in schools and community and asked them to work in tandem with PRIs for mitigating the probable threats during various natural calamities.
Later Shri. Gyan Singh, AD (Log) DM, Shri. Janik Ram, AD (admin.) DM and Shri. Deen Mohammed, Safety Officer (DM) sensitized the participants through power point presentations. In the second session a demonstration of various methods to be followed for rescuing the victims of the disaster by the personnel from NDRF which was witnessed by all students and staff of school and the participants. The programme ended with vote of thanks proposed by Shri Deen Mohammed, Safety officer (DM), Directorate of Disaster Management.
