Port Blair, January 21: A group of nearly 100 to 150 fishermen today staged a protest in front of Secretariat gate demanding the administration to allow access to fisheries jetty for keeping their dinghies, which they have been doing since last 22 years.
As per reports, on 8th of this month the Port Management Board asked all the fishermen not to berth their boats in the fisheries jetty because of which these fishermen are not able to go for fishing since last 14 days, which is affecting their livelihood.
Talking to Andaman Sheekha, one of the fisherman said that they have approached all the higher authorities of the administration but till now no action has been initiated from the side administration to solve their problem, for which this strike was conducted.
