Port Blair, Jan 17: A dog show was organised by the department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services on 16.01.2016 from 09:30 am onwards as part of celebration of ITF 2016. Smt R Menaka, Secretary (Animal Husbandry) Andaman & Nicobar Administration inaugurated the show. The show started with a demonstration of command and obedience by the Dog Squad of Andaman and Nicobar Police. The competition was judged under two categories of large and small breeds.
Around thirty pedigreed dogs comprising of a variety of breeds like Dalmatian, Rottweiler, Great Dane, German shepherd, Doberman Pinchers, Pug, Spitz, Pomeranian, Shihtzu, Labrador, cocker spaniel participated in the show. The Dog show was witnessed by a large gathering of dog lovers and general public. Children were particularly seen taking great interest in the pets.
The prizes for the winners of the Dog Show will be presented the awards during the closing ceremony of ITF on 18.01.2016.
