Port Blair, Jan 4: The Lt. Governor, A&N Islands has revised the minimum wages across six schedules of employment including govt. offices/dept’s/industrial establishments based on Average All India Consumer Price Index for the period from April 2015 to September 2015. The minimum rate of wages has now been increased by Rs.8/- per day across all the schedules of employment including govt. offices/industrial establishments. The revision of minimum wages shall be effective from Jan 1, 2016, the Addl. Secretary (Labour) said in a communication.
According to the official order, the current minimum rate of wages is Rs.282 for un-skilled in the District of South Andaman/North & Middle Andaman District while it is Rs 293 for Nicobar District. The detailed rates for all schedules of employment including of govt. offices/industrial establishments is available on the website of A&N Administration www.and.nic.in as well as at labour.and.nic.in.
