Port Blair, Dec 15: 32 Officers attending the Higher Air Command Course, led by three Instructors of College of Air Warfare, Secunderabad are visiting Andaman & Nicobar Islands from Dec 14-17, 2015. The student officers comprise 16 officers of Indian Air Force, 11 officers of Indian Army and five Naval officers.
During their visit to the Command Headquarters, the course participants and staff officers have been briefed on the strategic dimensions of the Andaman & Nicobar Islands and in on role and capabilities of the ANC and its Components. The student officers are also visiting Air Force Station, Carnicobar, where they would lay wreath at the Tsunami memorial. In order to familiarise the student officers with development, ecology and environmental imperatives, visits have been organised to Ross Island, Anthropological Museum and Cellular Jail. The environmental and ecological sensitivities of the Islands have been focused upon specifically during various briefings, such that future military leadership remains sensitive to the security vs development issues in the Andamans.
College of Air Warfare, Secunderabad is the premier Training institution of Air Force which conducts prestigious Higher Air Command Course. The course aims to train selected middle level senior officers of the Indian Air Force and other Armed Forces, in the higher decision making, Strategy and Operations. In addition, college of Air Warfare also conducts several capsule courses for junior level officers of Air Force and other Armed Forces
