Port Blair, Dec 4: Under the youth intervention programme, the A & N AIDS Control Society conducted a half day orientation and capacity building workshop at Industrial Training Institute, Dollygunj on Thursday. More than 190 students participated in the programme and 176 registered for the Red Ribbon Club.
Mr Venketesh Ch, Principal ITI, Mr Akhter, Vocational Instructor who is the Nodal person of RRC along with faculty members were present at the workshop, which was conducted under the guidance of Dr. R.K.Haldar, Project Director ANACS.
Youth in colleges are exposed to high risk behavior and are very vulnerable in nature and are more open to risky behaviours. Thus it is one of the core reasons and ground for having a formal forum or a club to tap this targeted group to further educate and guide them about HIV&AIDS in order to make them aware and safe. Through Red Ribbon Clubs, the targeted Youth in the age group of 15-29 years are encouraged to learn about safe and healthy lifestyle. Very soon the Red Ribbon Club will be formed in all the other colleges of the Islands.
