Port Blair, Nov 17: The fourth day’s celebration of 62nd All India Cooperative week celebration-2015 was organized jointly with the Cooperative Department, NCUI Project and other cooperative institutions of AN Islands in the premises of Andaman and Nicobar
State Cooperative Union on Tuesday. The main theme of days’ celebration was “Strengthening Cooperation among Cooperatives”.
The Director of Health Services (i/c), Dr SP Burma urged the Chairman, Cooperative Societies and his team to propagate the movement to more larger scale. He told that everybody wants govt jobs which is not possible and hence has urged the youths to opt for creating cooperatives and self help groups as it is a democratic movement and all should know its importance. He has also recorded his hope that the Union , in these islands, will take it at the peak and other like-minded people will come forward to make the movement as a grand success as such work needs cooperation of all and make Andaman and Nicobar at a top in this movement all over India.
Earlier, the Chairman, ANSCU, Mr Kuldeep Rai Sharma stated that Cooperatives serve their members most efficiently and make stronger the cooperative movement by working together through local, national, regional, and international structures. Cooperative ideology play a vital role in the growth of co-ops and give clear leadership as to how cooperatives should operate. These principles ensure the duplication of this hopeful model to acquire social and economic benefits for all.
With cooperatives facing the ever-increasing problem of low member engagement, turning back to these principles can help resolve this issue. Extensive research and numerous success stories show that the cooperative principle of open and voluntary membership is best able to tackle the problem. Through the successful application of this principle, and thereby the creation of association among members, cooperative leaders can increase member engagement, leading to increased cooperative success.
Mr S Raju, Dy Director, Registrar has elaborated the theme and stressed upon the youths to opt for creating cooperatives and self help groups as it is a democratic movement and all should know its importance. Surendra Nath Singh, Project Officer, NCUI has stressed upon the transparency and unity of the cooperators and cooperatives.
A free eye camp was also conducted for general public by Dr Agrawal’s Eye Hospital Ltd in the premises. Mr Ghyas Meshak, Vice Chairman, ANSCU, Mr Rijwan Ali, Director, ANSCU, Mr Noor Islam, and Mr AR Marickam, Cooperators and many others attended the programme.
