Today I want to tell you a story of a Hindu man, Arjun Das. Yes, you read it right, a Hindu man. Arjun Das is an old man living near Govt. Middle School, Dollygunj. He gets an old age pension of Rs. 2000/- per month from Directorate of Social Welfare, A & N Administration. Last month his monthly pension didn’t get credited to his account. He used to go to the bank every other day to withdraw his pension and every time he was told pension is not credited in his account.
Then one man named Mohammed Yousuf, went to the bank and enquired why Arjun Das’s pension is not getting credited to his account. He was told to go and check with The Directorate of Social Welfare. So Mohammed Yousuf and Arjun Das went there to enquire. From there they were told to go and enquire with the main branch of the bank.
They both went to main branch of the bank and Mohammed Yousuf tried to find someone he knows there and made the pension credit in Arjun Das’s account immediately. It doesn’t gets over there. What this Muslim man did for his fellow human was more than this. He took his Hindu friend to the branch of the bank where his account is maintained, filled up his withdrawal slip (because Arjun Das is Illiterate, he can’t even write his name) and stood up with him in the queue until he got his pension in hand.
Shri Mohammed Yousuf, is also a resident of Dollygunj, and retired from State Transport Services. But the thing to be noted here is his humanity. The pain he took to help Shri Arjun Das is praiseworthy. His deed reminds me of Prophet Mohammed’s words – “A good deed is one that brings a smile of joy to the face of another.”
This incident happened last month, and what happened on Saturday in Paris is totally opposite of the humanity shown by a Muslim man of our islands. Muslims around the world took to social media to condemn the wrongdoers of the Paris attacks (Islamic State) and defend Islam as a faith of nonviolence. (Yes, it’s true and I do admire Islam for its lessons of brotherhood.)
There are 1.6 billion Muslims in the world right now. And the combined forces of in total of Islamic State, Boko Haram and al-Qaeda makes up 0.003% of the global Muslim population. These 0.003% Muslims are interpreting Quran and Islam in different way and letting kindness and humanity down.
If you (IS, Boko Haram and al – Qaeda) want to show the real Islam to the world and be a real Muslim , then show some kindness to the poorest people on earth, feed the hungriest stomachs of the world, try to give happiness to the orphans instead of killing innocent people and creating terror around the globe. The Prophet Muhammed said: “He will not enter Paradise whose neighbour is not secure from his wrongful conduct.” If these people could understand what the Prophet said then, earth would have been a better place to live.
As long as people like Shri Mohammed Yousuf are there, Islam will flourish and human kind will have Hope. He reminds me that world is not a bad place to live. Hats off to this Real Muslim. Next time when you meet this man anywhere, do let him know he has done a commendable job and made every human proud. And let there be Hope for Humanity.
