Port Blair, November 03: Members of “Marine Mazdoor Sangh”, Port Blair, affiliated to Bhartiya Mazdoor Sangh called for one day strike today in front of Marine Dockyard.
More than 100 members of “Marine Mazdoor Sangh” took part in the dharna. The dharna started after hoisting of flag, by a prominent member of Bhartiya Mazdoor Sangh from Mainland.
The strike was organised to press long pending demands of Mazdoors of Marine Mazdoor Sangh.
“On 15th October 2015 the Sangh had forwarded a letter with nearly seven demands to the administration but even after all these days no action was initiated from the side of administration, which is the reason behind this protest,” said a member of Marine Mazdoor Sangh.
The major demands of Marine Mazdoor Sangh were increase in the OT wages, filling up the vacant posts, compensatory appointment etc.
