Port Blair, Oct 28: The 55th Course of the prestigious National Defence College (NDC), New Delhi, is on a visit to Andaman & Nicobar Islands till Oct 29, 2015. The course officers were briefed on all aspects of the Andaman & Nicobar Islands and during visits to Air Force Station Car Nicobar and military components at Port Blair, they were exposed to the local environment of the Islands and plans for future development. The environmental and ecological sensitivities of the Islands were at the core of the briefing, such that higher military leadership remains sensitive to the security and developmental issues in these pristine islands. The delegation visited places of heritage/interest in Port Blair, including Cellular Jail, Ross Island and Sagarika. The delegation laid a wreath at the Tsunami Memorial in Car Nicobar on Wednesday.
The National Defence College of India is the highest seat of strategic learning for senior leadership of the Indian Defence Forces and allied services. The course is widely subscribed to by officers from the Indian Civil services and is also attended by officers of many friendly foreign countries. The College grooms strategic leadership and also acts as a think tank on defence matters. It holds a very important position in shaping the Indian strategic outlook.
The NDC aims to equip future policy makers and military leadership with the background necessary to give them a broad understanding of the varied economic, political, military, scientific and organizational aspects involved in planning of national strategy.
