Port Blair, Oct 16: Under the aegis of Andaman Sai Seva Samiti, the 84th birth anniversary of Late Dr. A.P. J. Abdul Kalam former president of India was celebrated on 15th Oct, 2015 in association with Saraswati Shishu Vidya Mandir Secondary School, Prothrapur in the school campus. Dr. R. Dev Das, Principal, Andaman College and Director, Art and Culture, A & N Islands was the Chief Guest.
Shri Ashish Kumar Mondal, Vibhag Pracharak and Smti Preetam Kumari Nanda, President SSVM were on the dias with the Chief Guest . The president, Shri. Ghanshyam, Andaman Sai Seva Samiti, with committee members parents and the members of staff of SSVM also attended the function. It is a great pleasure that the newly elected councilors of PBMC also attended the celebration. Among those were Shri. Sanjay Meshak, Shri . Uday Kumar and Smti Vaishali.
Who graced the occasion by their esteemed presence, Shri Venkat Ramana the active member of the Andaman Sai Seva Samiti welcomed the Chief Guest and distinguished guests seated on dias, councilors and all the guests and presented a brief life sketch and contribution of the missile man and encouraged the students to grow like A.P.J.Abdul Kalam, two students of SSVM also delivered speech in English and Hindi regarding the contribution of late former President Dr. Kalam.
Dr. R. Dev Das Chief Guest distributed trophies and medals to the students of SSVM Athletic team which bagged in the inter state Athletic Meet held in RourKela, Odisha between 1st and 3rd Oct, 2015.
The Andaman Sai Seva Samiti also felicitated the students who brought laurels to SSVM. The Andaman Sai Seva Samiti donated Rs. 30,000 /- (Rupees Thirty Thousands only) by Cheque to SSVM for building fund. The Samiti gave financial assistance of Rs. 5000 /- (Rupees Five Thousands only) each to two poor meritious students of Govt. Senior Secondary School, Bathu Basthi for their studies.
Meanwhile, the Andaman Sai Seva Samiti, Rangat Unit, Middle Andaman also celebrated birth anniversary of Late Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam and distributed school kits to 80 needy students during this occasion. The function was chaired by Shri. S.K. Singh, Pradhan, Rangat, Middle Andaman.
By virtue of being on philanthropic organization the Andaman Sai Seva Samiti is actively engaged in helping the poor and needy people at the time of urgency and emergency thereby doing social service for the right cause.
