Port Blair, Oct 9: The Nicobar District Police held an interaction with Village Captains and other community leaders on Friday to facilitate police public interaction and boost community policing. The meeting was held under the chairmanship of the Superintendent of Police, Nicobar, Mr Deepak Yadav. The participants were informed about the need to enlist the support of community in order to promote the community policing initiative as advocated by the Lt. Governor of these islands. They were also informed about the menace of illicit liquor and were asked to provide maximum support to the police to curb the menace. The Dy.SP, DHQ, Mr N Rasheed informed the village captains about the precautions needed to be taken by fishermen while venturing into the sea. The participants assured of total police cooperation in future. The meeting concluded with the vote of thanks proposed by Inspector Arjun Prasad.
