Port Blair, Oct 8: On receipt of information from reliable sources about gambling at Prem Nagar near Children Park, the South Andaman District Team raided the place on Tuesday and apprehended seven persons namely Karan Singh (20 yrs), Rahul (24 yrs), Gopi (25 yrs), Deep Singh (24 yrs), Shiv Kumar (21 yrs), Adi Narayan (35 yrs) and Deepak (25 yrs), all residents of Prem Nagar and recovered Rs 10,775/- cash including board money Rs. 3775/- and other incriminating articles from the spot. All of them have been booked under A & N Islands Gambling Regulation, 1951 at PS Aberdeen.
In another raid on Wednesday at Brookshabad near Hanuman Temple, the Police Team of P.S.Pahargaon apprehended four persons namely Panidan Munda (32 yrs), R/o Brookshabad, B.Rama Rao (36 yrs), R/o Wright Myo Bambooflat, L.Gopi (41 yrs), R/o Brookshabad and Kuldeep Toppo (38 yrs), r/o Haddo and recovered cash Rs 420/- including board money Rs. 5720/- and other incriminating articles. All of them have been booked under A & N Islands Gambling Regulation, 1951 at PS Pahargaon.
The general public have been requested to pass on any credible information pertaining to gambling or any other illegal activities on the following telephone numbers 233077, 250525, 232400, 232405 & 100. The identity of the informer will be kept secret, a release says.
