Port Blair, Oct 06: As a part of Nationwide Swachh Bharat Abhiyan a “Kisan Rally” was organized at Sansad Adarsh Gram, Ramnagar on 03.10.2015 by the Department of Agriculture, Diglipur in association with the Agricultural Technology Management Agency (ATMA).
The Rally was flagged off by the Chief Guest Shri Subodh Mondal, Zilla Parishad Member, Kalighat at 10: 00 A.M. The rally started from Forest Check Post and ended at the office of the Gram Panchayat, Ramnagar. The farmers held placards with slogans on Swachhta/cleanliness/Swachh Bharat. Throughout the rally, slogans, patriotic songs and traditional ranchi dance were performed by the participants.
Culminating the rally a meeting was held in the Conference Hall, Gram Panchayat building. Smt. Sreedevi, Assistant Director (Agri.) welcomed the gathering and briefed about the Nationwide Swachh Bharat Mission.
Speaking on the occasion Shri Sapan Biswas, Pradhan, Shri Jadhav Samadder, Panchayat Samiti Member thanked all the villagers for making this programme a grand success and urged all to keep the village neat and clean in all aspects.
While addressing the gathering the Chief Guest of the occasion, Zilla Parishad Member, Kalighat Shri Subodh Mondal, appealed all villagers to make cleanliness apart of their life and contribute towards making the village as a ‘Model Swachh village’ in the country. He also congratulated the villagers for actively participating in the rally which was first of its kind among all the model villages under Sansad Adarsh Gram of A & N Islands.
Further, Smt. Shirly Thomas, Assistant Director (Soil), N & M Andaman and Shri Navshakti, Deputy Project Director (ATMA), Diglipur explained briefly about the importance of “Swachhta” not only as a part of mere cleanliness but also from the agricultural point of view by going for organic recycling and reducing the usage of chemical pesticides and fertilizers for a healthy life.
The programme concluded with vote of thanks proposed by Smt. R. Bhu Bharthy, Agriculture Assistant, Diglipur. She thanked all the farmers, PRI members, Health Department and Police Department for making this rally a grand success.
Altogether 100 farmers, PRI members and officials of Agriculture Department participated in the programme with great enthusiasm.
