Port Blair, Oct 06: A Dental Camp was conducted at Govt. Sec. School Webi, Mayabunder, which is one of the oldest school in these Islands rendering service since 1928 for the upliftment of Karen community on 3rd October in coordination with Dinesh Dental Clinic, Golghar and Colgate-Palmolive India Pvt Ltd Mumbai & IDA as part of Oral Health Month(OHM)wherein free dental check up was done for 96 students and as a apart of school contact programme. 22 deciduous therapeutic tooth extractions were done. Patients check up cards were given to all the examined students. Colgate Tooth Paste were distributed to all of them during the free dental check up programme. Brushing teeth twice a day and visiting dentist once in every six months interval where basic oral care habits begin were explained to the students and teachers. This programme is an ongoing endeavour to enhance oral heath awareness and Oral hygiene as a part of “Keep India Smiling”. The main aim was to reach out to the underprivileged and under served remote areas to help raise awareness about the importance of Oral Health. A power point presentation was also done about oral health awareness and oral hygiene prophylaxis, brushing technique was demonstrated to all and explained the importance of oral hygiene. Shri. Bharat Biswas, Vice- Principal, Secondary and Shri.S.K Bepari Head Master Primary thanked Dr.Dinesh, Dental Surgeon for coming to this rural area to conduct the camp which will immensely benefit the students especially the Karen community.
