Port Blair, Oct 5: The District Information System for Education (DISE) is operational in Andaman & Nicobar Islands since 2006-07. This year the data is collected as Unified-District Information System for Education (U-DISE) from all Government, Private-Aided, Private Un-Aided, Local body, JNVs, Central Govt. Schools or of any management dealing with school education, with the main objective of preparing a sound database as it serves as a powerful tool for effective planning of the system of Elementary as well as Secondary Education. In the absence of reliable data, the projection for creation of new educational facilities and infrastructural support becomes fraught with undesirable consequences and thereby may result in defective planning.
In view of developing a unified data base of schools from the academic year 2015-16, under U-DISE, data is being collected from all the schools (having classes from Pre-primary to Class – XII) irrespective of type or management. To assess various parameters pertaining to school education in the UT, it is mandatory to cover all the schools under U-DISE. It is also to be ensured that all the schools functional in Andaman & Nicobar Islands are covered under U-DISE 2015-16.
Any school functional in these Islands but not included in the previous year i.e. 2014-15 U-DISE data is requested to approach to the State Project Office, SSA, Shiksha Sadan, Link Road, Port Blair-744101 (Ph. No. 237180) with detailed information of their institution.
It is enjoined upon all the schools operational in Andaman & Nicobar Islands to extend necessary cooperation to the Cluster Resource Centers (CRCs) and Block Resource Centers (BRCs) for the collection of information for which the requisite U-DISE formats will be provided to schools through their concerned Cluster Resource Center (CRC). The refusal/failure on the part of any institution to provide the requisite information in the prescribed format within the due date shall invite consequences. VEC/SMC/PTA members are requested to ensure that the data being furnished should be as per physical existence and records available in the school. As per the guidelines of Ministry of Human Resource Development, GOI, New Delhi schools functional under the control of central authorities like Central School, JNV etc also need to provide data under U-DISE.
