Port Blair, September 29: The Lt Governor, Lt Gen A K Singh (Retd), has condoled the death of former Lt Governor Prof. Ram Kapse. He has conveyed his deepest sympathy, sorrow and heartfelt condolences to the members of the bereaved family.
In a brief message, he said that Prof Kapse was committed to the welfare of the people of the Islands and during his stint as Lt Governor of the A&N Islands, the Islands witnessed accelerated growth and progress. He personally supervised the relief and rehabilitation works during the December 26, 2004 tsunami disaster. The people of the Islands will always remember Prof Kapse for his contribution to the growth and development of the Islands, as also his affection for the Islanders.
Prof. Ram Kapse-the former Lt Governor of the A&N Islands died at Mumbai (Maharashtra) at the age of 82. He served the A&N Islands as the 8th Lt Governor from 05.01.2004 to 11.02.2006. During his tenure, the tsunami of 26th December 2004 caused extensive damages to the Islands and he took upon himself the massive relief & rehabilitation work.
