Port Blair, Apr 24: Vice Admiral Taratorn Kajitsuwan, Commander of 3rd Naval Area Command of Royal Thailand Navy arrived Port Blair to participate in the closing ceremony of 14th Cycle of the India – Thailand Coordinated Patrol (INDO-THAI CORPAT), a biannual event. The Admiral was received by Cmde B Sethi, the Naval Component Commander at Andaman and Nicobar Command.
Earlier, Royal Thailand Naval Ship HTMS Kamronsin and a Royal Thailand Navy Dornier aircraft arrived at Port Blair on 23 Apr 12 to participate in INDO-THAI CORPAT. Present cycle of the exercise commenced on 18 Apr 12 in the Andaman Sea. Indian Naval Ship (INS) Batti Malv of ANC escorted the Thai ship into Port Blair after conducting joint patrolling in the Andaman Sea.
INS Batti Malv, Indian Navy Dornier and Royal Thailand Navy Dornier carried out patrolling in the Andaman Sea on respective sides of the International Boundary Line from 18 – 24 Apr 12 during the CORPAT. Cross embarkation of officers and sailors from both the navies was undertaken to have a better understanding of operations and procedures.
The first such CORPAT with the Royal Thailand Navy was held in 2006. Series of Coordinated Patrols with the Thai Navy have resulted in enhanced mutual confidence between the two Navies in particular and Defence Forces in general.
