Port Blair, September 16: The Phougy Kaung area was rocked by a blast this morning. Later it was found that the blast was because of explosion of a fridge kept inside a house of Phougy Kaung area.
As per reports due to short circuit the fridge had exploded. The fire took in its wake almost everything inside the house.
However, no one was injured as all the members of the family were out for a function.
According to sources, the neighbours immediately informed the Fire Brigade about the blast. As the Fire Brigade team reached the spot on time, fire didn’t spread to the nearby houses.
Talking to Andaman Sheekha, Mr G Chandran the owner of the house said that he suffered a loss of 2.5 lakhs in this fire accident.
