Port Blair, Sept 16: As a part of the Hindi Fortnight, “Hindi Diwas” was observed in JNR Mahavidyalaya on 16th September 2015. Dr Vyas Mani Tripathi, Head, Department of Hindi, who was conferred with “Vishwa Hindi Samman” at the 10th World Hindi Conference held at Bhopal on 10-12 September 2015, was also felicitated by the faculty and students of JNRM.
Addressing the gathering, the Chief Guest Shri TN Krishnamurthy, Deputy Chief Engineer, ALHW, through Power Point Presentation using NHM Writer Software demonstrated how Hindi could easily be used in offices to prepare official documents. He invited the staff and students of the college to visit ALHW office to learn more about the use of the software. He called upon the students not to hesitate to use Hindi, even if it is not their mother tongue.
Guest of Honour Shri Durg Vijay Singh Deep, Deputy Director (News), All Indian Radio, Port Blair enthralled the audience with his poem. He also desired that the college should take up conducting workshops to enrich Hindi with other Indian languages.
Dr. V.M. Tripathi, Head, Department of Hindi, JNRM described his experiences at the World Hindi Conference at Bhopal where eminent writers, poets and linguists from all over the world gathered to deliberate on promoting Hindi as a world language. He was among the 31 honoured with the coveted Vishwa Hindi Samman by Shri Rajnath Singh, Home Minister of India.
Dr. Francis Xavier, Principal, JNRM expressed the hope that Hindi would emerge as the most spoken language in the world and increase in popularity due to its simplicity and rich literature. He called upon the non-Hindi speakers also to learn and speak Hindi and use it in their day-to-day lives.
Dr Anjani Kumar Srivastava, Assistant Professor in Hindi welcomed the gathering. Shri Patrick Ekka, faculty, Department of Hindi described the literary achievements of Dr VM Tripathi. Dr. Mrs. Manju Nair, Associate Professor, Geography called upon the students to develop literary skills in Hindi. A poetry recitation competition for students was conducted and prizes distributed to the winners. Dr Tripathi was honoured with Shawl and memento by the Chief Guest. Dr. Sainaba Goldar, Associate Professor in Hindi proposed vote of thanks. The programme was coordinated by Dr. N. Lakshmi, Assistant Professor, Department of Hindi.
