Port Blair, Sept 14: The Police personnel of South Andaman District were briefed by the Superintendent of Police (Election), Mr Atul Kumar Thaku, recently in connection with election related issues. The personnel were made aware about the Model Code of Conduct. They were directed to be fair and impartial in their conduct. All Dy.SPs and SHOs of South Andaman District attended the briefing. During the briefing, Police personnel were apprised about their duties & responsibilities in connection with the forthcoming Municipal/Panchayat Elections – 2015. They were directed to be transparent and disciplined in the discharge of their duties as well as to identify anti-national/anti-social elements and also persons who may disturb the law and order during canvassing, on the day of polling & counting. They were briefed on Excise related cases, distribution of cash/goods, electoral offences, ensuring patrolling & picketing during elections and prevention of clashes by disseminating information & taking preventive action. They were appealed to work hard with full dedication and sincerity to ensure fair & smooth conduct of elections, a release says.
