Port Blair, Sept 14: Observance of Hindi fortnight got underway at Doordarshan Kendra here on Monday. The Assistant Director (Prog), Dr Umashankar Jha was the chief guest on the occasion, while the Deputy Director (E), Mr M Sundram and the DDO, DDK, G Pushpalata presided over the function. Speakers on the occasion highlighted the importance of Hindi and motivated the gathering to use the official language in day to day office works. A poem recitation contest was also organized in two categories for the staff of the Kendra.
